Steve Young Fixed Lever Locks
2 types of safe deposit locks; Fixed Levers and Resetable
This tape shows how to make keys, service and rekey Fixed Lever Locks:
Tools needed: Jewelers Files, Depth and Spacer Keys, Slotting Cutter OR Code Machine, Dial Calipers

Steve starts with

S&G 4440 Series
4440RH, 4440LH, 4442RH, 4442LH, 4443RH, 4443LH
Right Hand Locks have the Hinges on the Right Hand side
Left Hand Locks have the Hinges on the Left Hand side
The Slots on the Noses are Horizontal and point to the bolt side of the lock
The lever depths are stamped on the levers 0-7 and uses the same style levers for both Guard and Renters side of the lock springs are molded on the levers (one piece) Keys are measured from the Tip of the Key do not forget the throat cut

Diebold 175-05, 175-06
The Slots on the noses are; Renters horizontal to bolt, Guard is Vertical to bolt
Has different levers for Renter and Guard springs are molded on (one piece) on the older models the springs are staked on (2 piece). There are no springs on the spacer shim levers, most DO NOT have depths stamped on there are 7 depths use a chart for depth decoding. Shim Levers are used in match work it is not unusual to find only 1 working lever on the guard side. Making a key by code is the same method as in S&G locks
175-05 has Large nose for Renter small for Guard
175-06 has Large nose for Renter Large for Guard


Security Locks (Kumahira {Japan}) 73-21 73-11
The Slots on the noses are at an angle to the bolt at about 45 degrees both pointed toward the bolt. There are 7 levers on the renters side and only 3 on the Guard side. The levers are interchangeable from renter to guard. The Depths are stamped on the levers for identification. The springs are pressed into and staked-on (two piece)
73-21 is designed to bolt onto a thinner door (has a raised portion (horn) on the bolt and cut outs at the mounting bolts
73-11 is simular to the S&G and Diebold locks; bolt being flat and no cut outs at the mounting bolts.


Mosler 5700 Locks
The slots on the noses are horizontal to the bolt one facing each way (one toward {renter} and one away {guard} from the bolt} These Locks are NOT handed.
It has a single fence, with opposing levers, pivoting around a single post. The Depth are stamped on the levers. The levers are not interchangeable. The springs are pressed into the levers and staked. The bottom lever is a guard lever, the levers alternate guard – renter – guard – renter throughout the stack.
Depths 0-5 Spaces 1-7
Keys were cut using depth & space keys.


LeFebure 7300
The slots on the noses are horizontal to the bolt one facing each way (one toward {renter} and one away {guard} from the bolt} These Locks are NOT handed.
It has a single fence, with opposing levers, pivoting around a single post.
7300 has small noses 7302 has large noses. The springs are a separate unit inside the lock and presses against the levers (1 for each guard and renter) with 7 fingers on each spring. The levers are stamped with the depths.

Identification
S&G 4440 series has the slot of the keyway pointing to the bolt side of the door.
Diebold has the slot of the renter to the door and the guard vertical
Kumahira has the slot at an angle of about 45 degrees toward the bolt side of door.
Mosler 5700 has the slots horizontal with one facing each way
LeFebure 7300 has the slots horizontal with one facing each way
